Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Review

Sharpness at 24mm
Our sharpness tests are carried out by photographing a real-world subject rather than a test chart. The Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S was attached to a Nikon Z6 II, which in turn was mounted on a sturdy tripod. Self-timer mode was activated to steady the camera completely. Any slight tonal changes you may see across the crops are a result of slight changes in natural light during the shooting session.

The full frame at 24mm
The softest overall results can be seen at this focal length, although by no means soft, the images aren’t quite as sharp as at other focal lengths.
At the maximum aperture of f/2.8, sharpness is very good, and remains very good at f/4. The centre gets sharper at f/5.6, before showing the sharpest results at f/8. A little softness creeps in at f/11, and again is a little softer at f/16, before showing the softest results at f/22.
The overall impression of softness even at this focal length is still very good, but the softest results can be seen at f/22. At the edge of the frame, the sharpest results can be seen at f/16.
