Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 Review

Features
The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 doesn't have all the bells and whistles that are found on most printers, however it does have sufficient features to satisfy the most demanding photographer. The printer has minimal controls, Power ON/Off, Cancel print and a Operation panel. A small 7.5 colour LCD screen displays menus and illustrations very clearly and is easy to navigate. Use the arrow keys to scroll though each menu option and press the centre OK button to make the selection, a Back key returns you to the previous menu and the Home button takes you back to the default screen. Media handling is very good especially with large A2 media, however, we did encounter a small amount of print scuffing with A4 media, this may just be a problem with this review unit. There is a wide selection of paper size settings listed in the printer properties, including extra wide margins for Fine Art Media, canvas and custom. Connection can be via USB, Ethernet or camera direct via Wi-Fi Pictbridge. The WiFi option could be useful for a social events photographer who requires a fast turnaround of prints. However, due to the heavy weight this is not a printer that you would want to move about too often.
Conclusion
Just when we thought printers couldn't get any better, along comes the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 with print quality that will blow your mind. During our test period we produced numerous A2 prints on both Fine Art Matte and Glossy paper. The prints were spot on for colour accuracy, displaying vibrant colours that jump of the page and more importantly they closely match those displayed on our monitor. You can't fail to be impressed with this printer.
