Pentax Optio S4iDCResource have reviewed the tiny 4 megapixel Pentax Optio S4i, which has a 3X optical zoom, 1.8 inch LCD monitor and features the first PENTAX digital cradle-style lithium ion recharge base unit.

“Life is full of compromises. In the case of the Optio S4i, you’re trading photo quality for camera size. The photos aren’t bad by any means, and will make nice smaller prints and web photos. But if you make big prints or like inspecting photos at 100%, then this camera may not be for you. Why? For one, there’s the blurry corners that I mentioned. The camera also has a bit of a noise problem, overprocessing images to the point that they look like watercolors. The noise does all kinds of weird things, most notably eating away at details, as you can see in my samples above.”

HP Photosmart R707DCViews have reviewed the new HP Photosmart R707, a stylish 5 megapixel digital camera.

“The f2.8 - f4.9 three times optical zoom lens on the Photosmart R707 covers a range of 39 to 117mm in 35mm terms. Images taken with the camera appear clear and bright. There is only little barrel distortion at wide angle, which completely disappears once you zoom in to tele settings. The wide angle setting of 39mm is not really a true wide angle, so reducing distortion should be easier than with say, manufacturing a 27mm lens as featured on some other digital cameras. There is no vignetting in the corners although some chromatic aberration is visible in high contrast situations.”

Sony DSC-F828CNET have posted their review of the 8-megapixel Sony DSC-F828 digital camera.

“With great ergonomics, a feature set made for all but the most advanced amateur photographers, and performance that lets it pull ahead of many of its competitors, this model makes a strong first impression. But a closer look reveals a few flaws that you should know about before you fall for the distinctively designed DSC-F828.”

Olympus C-8080 Wide ZoomCNET have just reviewed the 8-megapixel Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom digital camera.

“Olympus’s 8-megapixel enthusiast camera, the C-8080 Wide Zoom, delivers an incredibly broad feature set and some first-rate photos. But many users will find it difficult to efficiently manage all of its various features, and photographers who wish to shoot RAW files will likely consider it uncomfortably slow.”

Sanyo Xacti VPC-C1LetsGoDigital have just posted their full review of the Sanyo Xacti VPC-C1, a new hybrid digital still/video camera that certainly looks very stylish.

“The camera is compact and light-weighted and fits perfectly in ones trousers or breast pocket. The camera is standard delivered with a beautiful docking station and Sanyo is one of the very few manufacturers that was thoughtful enough to supply the camera standard with a 128MB Secure Digital memory card. Whether this is found back in the price tag can be read further down in this review.”

Sony DSC-P100Imaging Resource have just reviewed the new 5 megapixel Sony DSC-P100 digital camera.

“With its small size and well-rounded feature set, the Sony P100 is a good and unusually capable subcompact point-and-shoot digicam. Housed in a very small package is a 5.0-megapixel CCD, a sharp, high-quality 3x optical zoom lens, nine preset Scene modes and a host of other creative options. Its pictures show excellent color and sharpness (although I’d like to see better handling of household incandescent lighting), and surprisingly low noise levels for its combination of a five-megapixel sensor and compact camera design.”

Kodak Easyshare DX7630DCResource have today reviewed the new 6 megapixel Kodak Easyshare DX7630.

“There’s a whole lot to like about the Kodak EasyShare DX7630, and a couple of things not to like, as well. Kodak is undoubtedly playing the Megapixel game here, selling a camera with way more resolution than the typical consumer needs. While the 6 Megapixel CCD will produce HUGE prints and is helpful when cropping images, it really is overkill.”

Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2The second review of the 8-megapixel Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 digital camera today is by a new website called TopicPoint:

“The A2 has a great movie mode. The best quality movie mode is 544x408 at 30 frames per second. You can use the zoom during the movies, and movies can be fairly long, over 6 minutes with a sufficiently fast and large CompactFlash card. Anti-shake mode also works to help stabilize images in movie mode too.”

Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2There are two new reviews of the 8-megapixel Konica Minolta DiMAGE A2 digital camera for you today. The first is an in-depth 14 pages from HardwareZone:

“The Anti-Shake feature really works! Of course, how effective it is for you depends on your hand holding skills. The choice of different color spaces and the various image adjustments (in small increments too) available are major pluses. In terms of operation, the A2 offers pretty fast startup time and improved AF speed over the A1. For purists, the availability of the RAW file format means more flexibility during post processing.”
