The ATP GPS PhotoFinder Pro is a new device that allows you to geotag all of your photos. Designed for use with geotagging sites and software such as iPhoto, Flickr, Picasa3, Locr, SmugMug, Panoramio, Google Earth, and Google Maps and compatible with with more than 450 models of digital cameras, the ATP GPS PhotoFinder Pro provides easy geotagging without a PC or a need to go through complicated software installation processes. To use it, you first need to make sure there is no discrepancy between the time your digital camera is set on and the UTC time used by the Global Positioning System. Then all you need to do is take the PhotoFinder Pro along for the day’s shooting, then insert your memory card into the PhotoFinder Pro to geotag your photos. Other World Computing has announced the OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro, claimed to be the largest capacity, fastest bus powered portable storage solution on the market. The Mercury On-The-Go Pro is a new line of 500GB 7200RPM pocket-sized portable storage devices for Mac or PC users featuring FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and/or USB 2.0 interfaces for data transfer speeds up to 100MB/s. JVC have just released the JVC Xiview LT-42WX70, an ultra-slim, wide-gamut flat-panel LCD monitor targeted at DSLR users. The 42”, 120Hz 1080p LCD TV monitor features expanded colour space capacity encompassing 100 percent of HDTV broadcasting’s sRGB.904 colour space and a coverage rate of 96 percent for Adobe RGB.  Digital photos taken using the Adobe RGB colour space and displayed on the LT-42WX70 in the Adobe RGB mode will allegedly be reproduced with colours faithful to the original. Moreover,  the LT-42WX70 also features 52 picture-quality adjustment properties for tweaking both still and video images to the exact colours and tones the user prefers. For example, individual colour management settings of red, yellow, green, cyan tints and colours, as well as skin tone tint can be adjusted on-screen using the supplied remote controller. Hi-Den Vision has introduced the Tiny Hi-Def Photo Player, claimed to be the smallest photo / media player for viewing photos in large HDTVs of up to 1080p resolution. Measuring just 48x101x16mm, the Tiny Hi-Def Photo Player accepts external hard disks and flash drives via its USB 2.0 port and allows photographers on the go to play back their shots on the TV set in their hotel room. The player is available now and costs $42.99 plus shipping.

Panasonic has announced that it will launch new SDHC memory cards with Class 10 speed specification in Europe and other markets from the end of May, 2009. Class 10 is a new speed specification standardised by SD Card Association as part of SD Card Specification Ver.3.0 to meet the requirement for higher resolution consecutive shooting and large-sized high definition video shooting. The Panasonic GOLD line series are set to become the world’s first memory cards to adopt this new speed class. A large volume of AVCHD Full HD video data fully written on a new Gold card can be transferred to a PC approx. 40% faster compared to the current Class 4 card, Panasonic says. The new cards will be available in the UK from June 2009.

Panasonic has announced two new Micro FourThirds mount adaptors, the M Mount Adaptor DMW-MA2M and R Mount Adaptor DMW-MA3R, developed under support of Leica Camera AG. They make it possible to attach Leica M and R lenses, respectively, on Micro FourThirds cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1 and GH1. These adaptors also allow users to use the movable MF assist function, which enlarges the selected area when focusing manually. Pricing and availability to be confirmed.

Fantasea has released the new Fantasea Eyes U/W Optics Line for underwater photographers. These include their BigEye wide-angle lenses, whose universal design and adaptor con?gurations provide a wide angle solution for large zoom lens compact digital cameras and most compact digital camera housings in the market, including Canon, Olympus, Fuji, Ikelite, Panasonic, Sea & Sea, Casio and more. Fujifilm U.S.A. today introduced a collection of new accessories to complement their FinePix digital camera line for Spring 2009. For the Fuji FinePix F200EXR (pictured), the company has announced a leather case ($29.99), an underwater housing that is water resistant down to a depth of 130 feet ($179.99), an HD component cable ($49.99) and a replacement O-Ring Kit and silica grease for the F200 EXR Underwater Housing. ($19.99). For the FinePix Z33WP, Fujifilm has released a silicone case ($14.99), a sport case made of neoprene ($18.99), a weatherproof case ($18.99), a float strap that is claimed to be ideal to help keep the Z33WP camera afloat so you can capture favourite pictures in, around and on the water. The SLIK 515QF is a new video tripod that features the new all-metal Digital Balance PRO head with long slide quick release plate. Allegedly, this long slide quick release is important to properly balance the camera with heavy batteries, lights, or other accessories attached. The SLIK 515QF uses the all-metal 515 legs that feature an adjustable and lockable mid-level spreader to keep all legs at the same angle and a crank centre column for easy height adjustments. Giotto’s have added two tripod and head kits to their range. The MTL9351B aluminium tripod, which features quick action lever leg locks, foam hand grips and a removable 3-D centre column, is offered in a bundle with the brand new, lightweight MH5011 3-way head, constructed from cast aluminium and featuring easy to use pan and tilt handles for precise camera positioning with spirit levels. This head can support a maximum weight of 4kg. Gemalto has launched YuuWaa, a new solution for securely storing, backing up and sharing all types of multimedia data from one single interface. YuuWaa combines a USB flash drive with software and secure online services. The solution offers two levels of storage capacity - “YuuWaa Go” is a 12GB option combining a 4GB USB flash drive with 8GB online capacity. “YuuWaa Plus” has 24GB, including 8GB on the USB flash drive and 16GB online. Eye-fi today announced that users can now upload videos directly from their digital camera to Picasa Web Albums, Photobucket or SmugMug, in addition to YouTube(TM) or Flickr, without ever having to turn on their computer. The 4GB Eye-Fi Share Video and Eye-Fi Explore Video cards can upload photos and videos directly to the computer and to one of more than 25 online photo and video sharing sites. The Eye-Fi Explore Video card automatically geotags photos and videos with location information about where the moment was captured, and offers hotspot access from more than 10,000 Wayport and open hotspot locations in the U.S. to upload away from home. Eye-Fi’s newest wireless SD memory cards are now available at Apple Retail Stores and Best Buy locations nationwide for an MSRP of $79 (4GB Eye-Fi Share Video) and $99 (4GB Eye-Fi Explore Video).

LPA Design has announced a new firmware for its PocketWizard ControlTL system, which allegedly provides “amazing energy savings for faster recycling” when shooting in Canon’s HSS/FP Flash mode. This is made possible via the through-the-shoe communications feature of the new MiniTT1 Transmitter and FlexTT5 Transceiver. “By precisely matching flash duration to the shutter speed, large gains in efficiency were found, as much as 60% in many cases, for both remote and on-camera flashes,” the company claims. Units running older firmware may be updated to the latest release via a firmware upgrade by going to the maintenance tab of the PocketWizard Utility and click “check for updates” or go to PocketWizard.com/support/downloads to download the utility.
