Lowepro has announced the launch of the Magnum DV AW series, designed for the videographer who needs to work right out of the bag. The wide, dual-winged lid of the Magnum DV AW opens from the center, providing fast access to gear plus extra security with double zippers, a quick-release buckle and a hook/loop closure. Two roomy side pockets and a fast-access front pocket provide plenty of space for accessories, props and personal items. A wrapped and padded centre grab handle, trolley sleeve and handcart straps offer multiple ways to transport a heavy load. A new computer company, litl, has unveiled its webbook computer and operating system – billed as “a completely new and simple way for everyone in the family to enjoy online photos and all the web has to offer”. The Boston-based company thinks PCs are “complex” and “hard to maintain”, and argues that their new home computer “was created with a fresh approach that makes enjoying online photos and using the web simple, enjoyable and fun”. The litl webbook features a bright 12” screen and also offers plug-and-play connectivity to large screen, high definition televisions by way of an HDMI output port. The price for the litl is $699, with an optional remote control for $19.

Jobo has announced the Jobo ScanViewer, a high resolution 8” multimedia digital picture frame featuring a built-in photo scanner. The Jobo ScanViewer quickly and easily digitises up to 4x6-inch (10x15cm) prints, and presents them directly on its 8” SVGA display. Somewhat surprisingly, the frame’s aspect ratio is 4:3, whereas that of the prints in question is 3:2. Other specifications include a contrast ratio of 400:1, memory size of 1GB, weight of 370g and dimensions of 237x178x87mm. The Jobo ScanViewer will be available at retail in December for €259.

Buffalo Technology has just announced the availability of the MiniStation Lite - a lightweight, portable USB hard drive - in Sakura Pink and Lapis Blue. Buffalo Technology has announced the first-to-market SuperSpeed USB 3.0 External Hard Disk Drive and supporting two-port USB 3.0 PCI Express Interface Card. The DriveStation HD-HXU3 offers transfer speeds of up to 130MB/s – three times faster than an ordinary USB 2.0 connection. To support the new SuperSpeed DriveStation, Buffalo has released a new two-port USB 3.0 PCI Express Interface Card. LaCie today announced the LaCie Network Space 2, design by Neil Poulton – a Network Attached Storage (NAS) and media server. Arca-Swiss has announced the p0 knobless tripod head featuring the patented Monoball Planetary P system. There are currently two P system tripod heads: the p0 designed for use by photographers looking for precision equipment at an affordable price; and the p1, a tripod head with a wider diameter that is capable of handling the greater demands of heavy telephoto lenses or even 8x10” large-format cameras. Epson today announced four new fine art papers, including Hot Press Bright, Hot Press Natural, Cold Press Bright and Cold Press Natural. All of the new fine art inkjet papers are optimised for use with Epson UltraChrome ink technology. Hot Press Natural is a 330gsm paper that provides a smooth surface, whereas Cold Press Natural is a 340gsm product offering a textured surface. Both feature a warm white point that will produce a museum grade finish. Hot Press Bright and Cold Press Bright papers offer a bright white point. The papers will become available in a wide range of sizes through Epson resellers in November. Cut sheets (A3+ and A2) will be available at launch, with rolls available early 2010.

Gitzo have unveiled the company’s revamped Basalt Collection which features innovations in both the construction and design of the line. The new Gitzo Basalt Collection, which comprises six tripods, three quick-release (QR) centre ball heads, one monopod and boom, utilises the fibres of basalt rock to produce high?performance, lightweight tubes which are 20% lighter than aluminium. Lastolite has announced the addition of the TriGrip bracket to its TriGrip line of reflectors. The TriGrip bracket is an innovative bracket that allows photographers to work alone and support the TriGrip reflector on a handle, lighting stand, tripod, or any other type of fixing bracket. Photographers simply place the moulded TriGrip handle into the bracket and secure it in place with the strap. Jobo has announced the Jobo KeyFrame, a 2-in-1 mini digital frame and key ring. Featuring a 1.5-inch color display and an internal memory capable of storing up to 60 images, the Jobo KeyFrame is available in three colours – black, red and pink. Digital pictures can be easily transferred to the KeyFrame thanks to included software that is stored on the device’s internal memory. To upload images, users just connect the KeyFrame to a computer using the included USB cable. Also, the KeyFrame can display stored images in a slideshow presentation or as still images. SanDisk has unveiled two 32GB Memory Sticks, the SanDisk Ultra Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo, for use in Sony digital cameras, Handycam camcorders and the Sony PSP system. Based on SanDisk’s internal testing, the Ultra Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo is capable of 30MB / second read and write speeds, although actual performance will depend on the host device. The 32GB SanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo card is shipping worldwide now priced at $229.99, while the 32GB SanDisk Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo card (MSRP: $279.99) will be shipping worldwide in October.

Datacolor has announced that it will begin shipping its new Spyder3Print SR (Strip Reader) spectrocolorimeter as a separate product skew to support photographers and graphic artists currently using the company’s Spyder3Elite and Spyder3Pro monitor calibration systems. Spyder3Print SR is a new spectrocolorimeter that incorporates significant advancements in ICC printer profile technology and a new software algorithm ensures fast, easy and accurate measurements for outstanding colour and black-and-white prints, the company claims.  The new Spyder3Print SR is currently available at photo retail and specialty outlets and has a suggested list price of $339.

GiSTEQ has unveiled the PhotoTrackr Mini DPL900, a miniature device you can use to geotag your pictures. Unlike the - bigger and slower - original PhototTrackr, the new Mini DPL900 is fully compatible with the Mac and offers raw image support too. With a size comparable to that of a USB pen drive, the PhotoTrackr Mini is less intimidating than its predecessor, and is also cheaper at $69.
